What changed my life and other accomplishments

I have four years of experience as a Technology Mentor. I worked for Center for Teaching and Learning at LaGuardia Community College in New York. My job mainly involves educational technology such as designing educational and career web site, online courses, hardware and software training. I trained faculty to use this technology and apply it into classroom instruction. My job focus was to increase quality of the education and learning. I am very happy to say that Center for teaching and learning won a national wide award in 2004. “LaGuardia was one of the best colleges in the USA that use technology effectively to improve learning and teaching.” I am very happy to be part of this award. I worked with students and college staff. I trained students to create educational online e-portfolios and manage online courses.

I worked very closely with faculty, college staff and students. Office for Student with disabilities web site was my last project at the center. I was very interested in designing this web site. I realized that many web sites are not accessible for people with disabilities. They have hard time to get information online. I developed a project plan and researched accessibility standard. I developed database application for New York City College of Technology. I worked with a group of nine people to develop database application for Circular Community of the College that integrated Visual Basic with Access. I designed system requirement by using Unified Modeling Language. I demonstrated all the class, objects and their responsibilities in the system by using Use Case Diagram. I graduated from New York City College of Technology. I have Bachelor Technology Degree in Computer Information Systems. In addition to this degree, I have Associated Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and Associated Applied Science Degree in Programming and Systems. I studied C++ Programming, Database, System Analysis Design, Object Oriented Programming Concept, Unified Modeling Language, Development Life Cycle, waterfall models and other approaches.

I have also studied teaching. I am very good at teaching technology to non-technical people. My teaching and technology background makes me very good at dealing with the clients in different kind of issues. I am very well organized and detail oriented. I believe planning “what to do” and “how to do” is very important. I am friendly and always willing to share my knowledge with others.

What Changed my Life and My Accomplishments

I made many important decisions that have changed my life. My first important decision was to become a soccer player. I started to play soccer on my city team when I was 13 years old. My parents were disappointed about my first decision because they wanted me to prepare for college entrance examination. Unfortunately I couldn't become a professional soccer player, but I learned many things as a player. I learned how to win as a team. I learned that without giving effort there is no winning.

My second big decision was to leave my parents to get a better education in a big city. I studied electricity for four years in a technical high school. I saw many poor people, homeless children, political fights and people with hope. Those experiences taught me numerous things. I become a more realistic person. So, I wanted to become a teacher to change my society.

My third decision was to attend college. I continued to study electricity at the University of Mugla, and got my first college degree.

I wanted to become a teacher after I graduated from Mugla University. I studied teaching at the University of Kocaeli (Izmit). I got my teaching certificate and had first teaching experience as a teacher assistant. Teaching plays a very important role on people’s life. Our world is getting dangerous, and people don't care about it. Pollution, spreading diseases, guns, atomic bombs, and all other things are threatening the world. In fact, young generations are using more drugs; they like violence, and they don't respect other people's rights. All those things are affecting our life in a bad way. The only way to change our society is education.

My fifth big decision was to study Computer Science in the USA. I started to study English as a second language at LaGuardia Community College. I received Associated Applied Science Degree at LaGuardia Community College and Bachelor Technology degree from New York City College of Technology.

I moved to Toronto to gain more knowledge about my field. November 2004. up
